The inspiration for this Adobe Modern Architecture is the early settlers defensive towers erected to fend off hostile tribes. This element here in the form of a round stone tower anchors the house and performs a new function as vertical circulation.
The typical southwest adobe style is modernized with more crisp angular forms and the house does a transformation from the more traditional front of house to completely open back. Folding glass walls open up to nature and large sunny decks. A path leads to a fire-pit to be enjoyed on warm evenings. The large decks provide ample outdoor living spae that expands the house and enchances the open floor plan.
A water feature in front of house turns into a gentle river that flows right through the house and terminates in a spa. This provides both soothing background noise in front of house and moisture and cooling on the inside.
